  Talent Marketplace
The talent marketplace is constantly evolving and differs from sector to sector. However, with over a decade of experience operating in the Recruitment Industry, we have identified that there are 5 general groups within the talent marketplace. These different groups each have their own unique motivations, perspective, and approach to finding a new role or business to work with. Whilst the proportions
of candidates in each category fluctuates between particular industry sectors, across the Talent Marketplace as a whole they are fairly consistent.
Not Looking at all
Nearly a third of the marketplace isn’t looking for a new job or career move at all, and wouldn’t be open to even just a discussion with a recruitment consultant that they don’t already know. This is an area where we can add significant value as we make considerable effort to proactively keep in contact and maintain relationships with our candidates, even if they’re not looking for a new opportunity at that particular time. As such, these ‘hidden’ candidates are often far more open to initial conversations from us than would otherwise be the case.
Not proactively looking
The largest group are those people who are not actively looking for a new role but would be open to a discussion about a role or project that would represent a positive career move. There is a degree
of trust required with this group, and the timing of any potential career discussion would also be a deciding factor in how receptive the candidate would be. Again, our proactive candidate network is a big advantage for our clients as we already have a pre established relationship which allows us to gauge the right timing and approach to access these otherwise passive candidates.
Not actively looking
Potential candidates in this group of the talent marketplace are also not actively looking for a career move. However, they are characteristically more readily open and amenable to a new role, especially if it offers advantages such as a better salary or working conditions. The opportunity of promotion or greater responsibility is not necessarily a pre-requisite for this group; if it is timed right and managed effectively an approach to this type of candidate would generally be well received.
Actively looking
The people in this group are much more proactive in their job search as they will have decided that they are ready now for their next career move. Alongside the ‘Always Looking’ group, these are the easiest candidates to get in contact with as they are the most active on social media platforms and job boards. Our comprehensive service and sector expertise are a significant benefit in managing candidates from these two groups as we pre-screen and select only the best and most suitable candidates to shortlist for our clients.
Always Looking
This is the most pro-active group of candidates in the marketplace as they are always on the lookout for a new job. They would likely consider any job that offered an improved set of circumstances on
their current position. This might be to do with the tasks involved in the job or the pay and conditions. Again, we save our clients a lot of potentially wasted time by identifying, verifying, and shortlisting the most suitable candidates to fully and successfully meet their hiring needs.
