FOREWORD
When you read this book, you might find yourself thinking,
"This guy is too good to be true." Del Lewis has achieved
remarkable success in business, politics, as a husband, and as a
father, making him almost unbelievable. Yet, despite his continual
success and reputation for intelligence, reliability, and decency, Del
never left a trail of jealous rivals. His focus was on excelling in each
role—whether as a Peace Corps country manager, telephone
company executive, or president of National Public Radio—before
moving on to the next challenge.
I first met Del when we were both young business executives in
Washington, D.C., a city still healing from the 1968 riots. Del
Lewis was one of the few who earned respect across both the white
and African American communities, standing out as a true leader
in a city still grappling with its identity. ~ Don Graham
