Cosmetic acupuncture produces many effects similar to the cosmeceutical products just
discussed though it does so by means of inducing a low level of stress on tissue in order
to activate its repair mechanisms. This stress initiates a cascade of protective reactions
ending in an increase in the production of matrix proteins like collagen and elastin,
enhanced circulation, anti-inflammatory responses, as well as greater cell and vascular
proliferation.* The final result is a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles, firmer skin and
                   a balanced complexion.

At a systemic level, that element of therapy that involves the needling of body parts on
locations other than on the face plays an important supportive role by helping to modulate
circulatory hormone levels having the potential to negatively affect the skin’s health.

                   LED Therapy

LED light therapy produces physiological effects similar to cosmetic acupuncture though
it relies on the photostimulation of mitochondrial membrane proteins to initiate a similar
cascade of protective tissue reactions rather than on mechanotransductive effects on
                   cells.*

The principle benefit of both cosmetic acupuncture and LED therapies is that they utilize
only the natural products of tissue stimulation to achieve their results thus subjecting
patients to no risk of undesirable side-effects or drug interactions. The structural changes
in skin that are induced are also more pronounced than can be achieved through the use
                   of topical products alone.
