Open Gardens raise £1,000 for library
G REENHILL’S first Open Gardens event proved a great success, despite a wet start.
Some 13 gardens welcomed visitors and the event raised just over £1,000 for the volunteer-run library.
The library’s Chris Brown said: “It was real brolly and welly weather for the first couple of hours, though a few hardy folks braved it.
“But as the rain stopped after lunch, more and more people could be seen on the streets with maps and green stickers, and gardens reported a brisk trade in visitors in the afternoon.
“There were some real hidden gems amongst the 13 gardens that opened and some very nice fruit cake to be had!”
Anyone interested in taking part in a similar event next year should email gardens@greenhill-library.org
The show’s stars James Parkin, Ellie Needham, Ellen Hindley and James Worthington
