#2.LW2 2018 Glaetzer Anaparenna / Shiraz / Cabernet Sauvignon Barossa Valley, SA
Glaetzer Anaperenna is a seamless fusion of the two varieties Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. Voluptuous, opulent and yet refined, with a very long and
satisfying finish. In 2018 the blend is 82% Shiraz (vines aged 30 to 100 years) and 18% Cabernet Sauvignon (vines of 30 to 130 years of age). Yield 2.5
tonnes per hectare.
Exceptional old-vine fruit was sourced from the famed Ebenezer sub-district at the northern tip of the Barossa Valley. Fermented in 1- and 2-tonne open
fermenters, hand-plunged three times daily. Matured for 16 months in 100% new oak hogshead barrels (92% French and 8% American) and matured on
lees to maintain fruit profile and animation. Bottled unfiltered to ensure minimal intervention with the wine’s natural characteristics.
“For the 2018 Anaperenna Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon, Glaetzer blended in 18% Cabernet Sauvignon to give the wine increased fragrance and length. The
nose is smoky, slightly herbal and marked by sweet cedar- and vanilla-tinged oak, but it also offers great cassis and blackberry fruit. Full-bodied, rich and
concentrated, the flavors are kept nicely in check by fine-grained tannins. This wine has it all: terrific intensity, complexity, length and texture”. 97 points, Joe

#3.KW15 2016 Torbreck The Factor Barossa Valley, SA
Home to some of the oldest vines on the planet... The Torbreck endeavour is based around the classic Rhone varietals of Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro,
from mostly old vines scattered throughout the microclimates of the Barossa. Whilst Torbreck specialises in making red wines, there is Viognier,
Marsanne and Roussanne planted on our Descendant vineyard which we blend into white wine. The first wine was the 1995 Runrig crushed from just
three tonnes of Shiraz and Viognier grapes.
“Vines planted in 1843, Deep crimson with purple hues. An intense aroma of ripe Satsuma plum, mocha, vanilla and savoury notes combine with hints of
cedar and sweet spices. Rich, sweet fruit is balanced wonderfully with briary and sweet spices and lovely, silky tannins. A full-bodied, textural wine, showing
great complexity with hints of cedar and allspice flowing through to the lengthy, brambly fruit finish”. 97 points, Campbell Mattinson
#4.KW17 2016 Rockford Basket Press Barossa Valley, SA
Robert O’Callaghan’s evocative Rockford Basket Press Shiraz is a tribute to the Barossa’s 19th and early 20th-century heritage. Made from grapes sourced
from 60 to 140-year-old dry-grown vineyards (most from independent growers) across a range of Barossa soils, altitudes and micro-climates, the wine
represents a rare and important post-colonial Australian aesthetic.
Fruit is hand picked then vinified using classic Barossa techniques including a 19th-century wooden Bagshaw crusher, open fermentation and basket
pressing. Matured primarily in seasoned 300-litre French and American oak hogsheads and 2500-litre vats for two years.

#2.KW16 2015 Henschke Keyneton Euphonium Barossa Valley, SA
Henschke’s Euphonium is a (66%) shiraz-based red with inputs from (19%) cabernet sauvignon, (10%) merlot and (5%) cabernet franc.
“The cabernet influence is clear. It sets the wine on a clear quality course; plum and blackcurrant flavours pour through bay leaves, dust and dried herbs,
cedary oak tying it together. Tannin comes in fine sheets, and the aftertaste lingers appreciably. Excellent release. “A vintage like 2015 highlights how well these

#6.D 2016 Jim Barry The Armagh Clare Valley, SA
The patriarch of this highly successful wine business, Jim Barry, died in 2004, but the business continues under the active involvement of the second
generation, led by the irrepressible Peter Barry; the third generation represented by Peter and Sue Barry’s children, Tom, Sam and Olivia. Tom’s wife
is also called Olivia, and she (Olivia Hoffman) has set a whirlwind pace, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the University of
Adelaide, then a Masters of Wine Business. Peter purchased the famed Florita Vineyard with his brothers in 1986 (one of the oldest vineyards in the Clare
Valley, planted in 1962). The second generation also purchased Clos Clare in 2008 with its high-quality vineyards. Jim Barry Wines is able to draw upon
345ha of mature Clare Valley vineyards, plus 35ha in Coonawarra. In November ’16, Jim Barry Wines released the first commercial assyrtiko grown and
made in Australia. A founding member of Australia’s First Families of Wine. Winery of the Year Wine Companion 2020.
“Wow. This is a bold, brassy shiraz that carries a wealth of very intense aromas of ripe blackberries, dark plums, licorice and sweetly spiced earth. Still so very
youthful and primary. The palate is so powerful, so mouth-filling and so, so juicy. This manages to deliver such intensity and composure. Supple, long and
deep-set tannins and heroically expressive fruit. Really impressive now, but this will deliver much more over the next two decades. One of the finest releases to
