Why do I paint what I do?
By painstakingly exploring different genres, techniques and painting styles I found my niche. Purely led by inspiration and experimentation freed
me up to become, what I term, an ‘Eclectic Painter’, all the while pooling on my developed skills.
There are no restrictions on my methods of expression as I embrace either the beauty of the natural world or a still life painting using an
Impressionist style or a personal, human or mystical narrative explored using a more Symbolistic approach.
Although my styles may echo those from previous masters, I feel that I have, over time, developed my own unique way of painting.
I choose the method, materials and size according to what suits the mood of the subject I feel compelled to portray.
This will depend on whether the work requires calm and serene, powerful, mysterious, or naturally dynamic brushstrokes.
I have long been interested in psychology and followed this path, alongside painting, from my late thirties onwards. My Psychodynamic
Counselling qualification and work experience have enhanced my wish to paint using mood , atmosphere and hidden meanings.
The human psyche holds many treasures and ways to portray feelings and thoughts. For both the creator and the observer there are narratives
within each painting waiting to be revealed.
