Fantasy : Venturing to articulate the undisclosed and unmanifested that exists beyond our perceived reality.
Fantasy is the product of the human mind, being derived from visions, dreams, imagination and inspiration.
Fantasy allows us to venture beyond the constraints of the present, it aids us to live in a transient multi -faceted reality of the physical
material world which, by its nature, is transitory.
Reality is always momentary whereby a change in any aspect or experience changes the sense of reality.
It is also the experience that we comprehend at any given time and therefore is relative, rather than absolute, as our understanding and
judgement is based on our unique pathway in life.
Reality cannot be shared because perceived reality is inextricably related to the self and ones internal state.
Fantasy in terms of myths, legends, stories and accounts of creation have an underlying narrative, with each being authored for a particular
purpose and in many instances, a particular audience, reader or viewer.
Humankind is constrained by its physical nature and in many instances by conditions and situations. This is bound by the extent of knowledge
and therefore understanding for the individual or society’s relative position to nature and the cosmos. This is very much the case regarding
ancient civilisations and even to relatively recent times, when advances in the sciences through the discovery of subatomic particles, wave
theory and quantum field theory, have enabled humankind to gradually attain greater understanding of deeper states within the universe and
mysteries beyond.
It is this greater knowledge that is converging the mystics of theology, philosophers and empirical science towards a common ground.
The term the ‘world around us’ or the phrase ‘to go out into the world’ relate to two aspects, namely; the natural environment to which we are
inextricably part of that conditions us, the individual mind and the collective minds of society. At the moment an idea has form it is
manifested in the world of ‘mind’ to which human response is made with consequential change in thinking in terms of understanding and
perspectives. If the idea is manifested in action and creative outpouring, through the utilisation of the earth’s materials and contained
potentialities then the idea is born, { manifested in the world of formed matter}, into the physical world.
The manifestation is then separate and independent of the creator or creators as it acquires it’s own entity and dynamism, whether through
physical consequence or adoption by individuals or society. The mind, and in particular the human subconscious, could be seen as the interface
between the abstract undisclosed state and the physical state of formed matter.
With this in mind; narratives, especially written as an allegorical or metaphoric representation, in turn acts as a vehicle for interpretation and
therefore a fusion with new thinking. This is then furthered by responding with creative thought and action.
This mode in the transference of ideas and concepts becomes a continual creative process owing to the fact that there is an internalisation and
integration within the inner mind and perception, similar to viewing an art form.
Something external becomes internalised within the self and is manifested in a new form and direction, through interpretation and our unique
experiential journey in life.
