A ferry is an essential service to those communi-
ties who live by a river or estuary, especially the wide
expanse of the Rance. It eliminates the long journey to
Dinard or Dinan to cross by bridge. Ferry boats act as
a social connection, for a time, whilst all in the boat
together – a means to chat, gossip and catch up on events.
