Friar’s Court is a historic site,
the Cotswold stone house has
stood on its moated site near to
the river Thames for more than
300 years. There has been hab-
itation on the site since 1149,
when the monastic knights of
St. John of Jerusalem, founded
the first ‘Hospitaller’ in Ox-
fordshire. A glimpse of the
outer garden from the rose gar-
den invites the viewer to sense
the peace of early summer.
