The town park has extensive grounds with many varied and interesting walks
which provide attractive views to the surrounding town houses, with their particular
regional architectural style.
The scene was painted at mid-day in July, at that time the light was intense, which
energized and enhanced the colours in flower borders and trees.
The position of the woman and dog within the picture create a sense of movement
and extends the possibility of space beyond the scene. This abrupt end to the
narrative evokes a feeling of suspended time, before moving on, in what may be a
daily routine.
