Basis for discussion.
It appears that there are two distinctive markets that have evolved through New York and Palm Beach collectors preferences, namely Abstraction
in its various forms and a mix of mid 20th Century non - representational art movements in New York. In Palm Beach a collector base centred on
mainly Impressionism – Post Impressionist works and representational compositions.
The basis for discussion is the proposal to introduce to the New York gallery a more directed form of composition that connects with this new
trend in the New York art market.
The compositions would be fundamentally ‘Alter Realist’ in approach, which has been introduced to the Gallery over the past few years.
Alter Realist paintings are not to be perceived as forms of ‘Montage’ or ‘mixed media’, but rather a complete fusion of disassociated elements in
time and location each with a unique narrative or, in other words, a composite of ‘time captured space’ into a single picture plane and integrated
light in representational depiction.
Further, compositions can have varying degrees of abstraction and hence boundaries juxtaposed with representational elements in order to
emphasis aspects of the overall narrative.
The painting language is based on Impressionist and Post Impressionist language and the rendering of nature from an ‘en plein air’ mode of
engagement {the painting act of engaging with the momentary dynamic quanta energy of life}.
The proposed new direction would be in parallel to the Impressionist style and subject matter that has been established over the last 20 years in
both galleries. In many cases the new work can be mixed with the established impressionist pieces, as in every case the finish of the works is
purely painterly and aesthetically comparable.
With past Art Movements especially late 20th and 21st century, the various movements have been reactionary. Whereas Alter Realism is a
contemplative consideration of the unfolding contemporary world.
It is an approach of exploration, celebration and questioning in terms of theology—philosophy and science.
