Based on the National Trust properties at Upton House, Oxfordshire, and Hatchlands, Surrey
The Alter Realist composition merges classical aspects from the entrance Hall Upton House and centre piece
from the Staircase Hall at Hatchlands. The centre section is referenced from a miniature copy of Canova’s
marble sculpture of Pauline Borghese , which is supported on a half-sized modello for a plinth.
