TOP 10 THINGS WE'LL MISS ABOUT LIFE AT BROOKBEND ROAD
1. Having so many comfortable spaces that it is sometimes difficult to
decide where to sit! Sipping my coffee in the 4-season's room with fireplace on
and fresh snow in the back yard; or sipping tea in the piano room curled up with
a book by the fireplace; or on the deck of my master bedroom looking out over
our beautiful backyard; or on the front porch glider enjoying the late afternoon sun.
2. Having the backyard look like a scene from a magazine as it is set up for a big
party with white cloth draped tall top tables scattered around the pool with fresh cut
flowers, torches ready to light the evening as the sun sinks. The pergola strung with
white lights, table and seating groupings carefully spread about, food and bar set up
on the patio with room for dancing and then finally seeing all our friends enjoying the
evening!
3. Soaking in the hot tub with my sunglasses on with the sun beating down on my face
after a hard workout in our basement workout room or a run to the beach or a power
walk through the beautiful grounds at Fairfield University.
4. Looking out into our beautiful backyard while cooking in my amazing kitchen. It
is light and bright in the morning and cozy whether for a romantic evening for two by
our dining room fireplace or for extended family gatherings for birthdays and holidays.
When the windows are open you feel like you are outside!
5. Summer afternoons that turn into beautiful summer evening enjoying time with
friends and family or quiet time together. Lounging in the pool, playing games of Kan
Jam ,spike ball or badminton and then barbecuing on the grill, followed by dining
under the pergola enjoying the glow of the pool lights and finishing up around our
fire pit!
6. Impromptu neighborhood pot luck get-togethers during snowstorms. Enjoying
the crackling fire in the fireplace and the company of good friends, while the kids
build snowmen, and then troop in for hot cocoa and chili to warm up.
7. Having dinners with friends that either start with a cheese and wine tasting in
our cozy wine room or end there with dessert and maybe more wine!
8. We will miss our house being the place where all the kids wanted to be and
hang out no matter the time of year. It was: games and hanging by the pool on hot
summer days, hot dogs and burgers for lunch on short days, to quick power snacks
before practice, to the whole varsity soccer team arriving muddy from practice for a
pasta dinner, to ping pong matches and pool tournaments.
9. Walking to town for a romantic alfresco dinner on a warm summer evening or strolling
through fresh fallen snow to a cozy dinner on a snowy December evening when the town is a
glow with the bright Christmas lights.
10. Walking to the schools to watch our son's soccer games and not fighting the crowds to park
whether for open house or a music concert at the middle school or the high school.
