INTERVIEW WITH THE
HOMEOWNER
What made you fall in love with 22 Douglas Drive?
We fell in love with the house when we saw the backyard and pool. We love the traditional
cape/colonial style home and the beautifully landscaped grounds. The setting on the property was
gorgeous and the house was set back from the road. The backyard is very private and welcoming. It
exudes relaxation.
Describe the renovation process.
Renovations to the home was a fun project for us. We wanted to establish an open floor plan, so the
wall between the kitchen and breakfast nook was removed. The upstairs hallway wall was removed
and blustered railings installed.
Why are you moving?
We are now semi-retired and relocating out of state. We designed our home to be perfect for
retirement in the long run and it will serve the next owners well! We are sad to leave!
Will you miss the neighbor/neighbors?
Yes! We will miss the neighbors and the beautiful neighborhood very much. The neighborhood is
known as the Flower District. Everyone is welcoming. People take walks, walk their dogs, ride their
bikes, and take good care of their property. It is a warm, friendly, and homey environment.
Tell me about the grounds...
The grounds are private and have mature plantings/landscaping. Starting in the early Spring there
is a succession of flowering plants that continue right into the Summer. There is always something
in bloom. The harbor was installed on the side yard which supports our favorite rambling roses.
What makes your property so special?
This is a very special property because it has beautifully manicured lawns, stately oak and hickory
trees; a harmonious arboretum. Each season brings its own special joy. Such as, flowering irises and
lilacs in spring to the colorful fall foliage. But most especially, summer because of the special
memories of friends and family gatherings, celebrations, holidays, parties, and relaxing weekends by
the pool.
