TOP 10 THINGS WE WILL MISS ABOUT
31 RIVER DRIVE
1. The nautical feel, overlooking the Norwalk Harbor and being on
the water.
2. Front of the home is facing west and lends to magnificent sunsets.
3. There is nothing quite like sipping a cocktail on a warm summer evening
while sitting in your private gazebo on the water’s edge. Sitting on the front
porch and enjoying the views.
4. The neighbors- They were welcomed to the neighborhood instantly.
5. They liked that it was a neighborhood of mixed ages of young and old.
Neighbors got to know each other and socialized regularly together at the
weekly potluck gatherings at the beach across the street during the summer.
Neighborhood events such as 4th of July parade, Lobster bake, Labor Day
event.
6. Father kept dingy at the sea wall in front- there is marina for Marvin Beach
Association on Gregory Blvd and mooring access in the harbor in front of
house.
7. Swimming-our mother swam regularly off beach by flagpole with some
of the neighbors- there is also a swim float put out by Association in
Summer.
8. It’s a street with very little vehicular traffic so the street itself really serves
as a walking promenade where people and their dogs, meet and greet
each other daily.
9. The backdrop to the home is the fascinating with boat traffic in the
harbor from the oyster boats breaking the ice in the winter to the variety
of yachts, kayaks , paddle boards and rowing clubs that can be seen from
almost every room in the house both day and night when the twinkling lights
of the harbor cast an almost magic spell.
10. Our mother was a master Gardner so behind the house is a fully developed
raspberry patch which produces in abundance each year and the planting’s
around the house have been selected with care. Next to the gazebo, they planted a
vegetable garden which because of the abundant
sun produces a bumper crop of fresh vegetables.
