INTERVIEW WITH
THE HOMEOWNER
Q: What made you fall in love with this home?
A: We love the unobstructed views and the extra large windows in this apartment from the 27th floor. They are simply stunning
views both day and night. We also get a lot of light throughout the day which is very important to us. Another highlight is
that there are only three apartments on this floor, making it very quiet and private. We also appreciate this home because of
the neighborhood conveniences that are close by. From the subway at the end of the block, to 3 major hospitals 2-4 blocks
away, to a variety of grocery stores, restaurants, banks, pharmacies, etc... it is all at your fingertips just outside the door. In
addition, being on a street with all doorman buildings for blocks oers an extra level of safety which was a draw for us. We
also enjoy the feeling of a true residential neighborhood which is sometimes missing in other Manhattan locations.
Q: Please describe the renovation process (if you renovated of course).
A: We worked with one contractor and designed the Kitchen and Bathroom ourselves. Our Kitchen goals were to create a
high-end modern look that optimized the Kitchen space to ensure we had plenty of storage and great functionality. We
chose white flat modern custom cabinets with a glass finish, Carrera marble countertops, a suburban size Kitchen sink
outfitted with a purified waterspout, and Philip Hues lighting. In the Bathroom, we have marble floors and diagonal
herringbone white subway tile walls with an extra deep tub/shower combo. The marine blue vanity provides plenty of
storage and we finished the bathroom o with brushed gold fixtures to oer visual appeal. In the Primary Bedroom,
we installed a wall of 90 inches tall cubboards providing us with tons of extra storage in addition to the walk in closet
that is already in place. For the floors, we chose Pergo waterproof lament floors with a rich cherry wood finish. They are
gorgeous and we get endless compliments on them. Most guests do not realize that they are not real hardwood. They are
a fabulous complement to the modern style of the apartment.
Q: Why are you moving?
A: We bought a house in the suburbs, and with our son's school and extracurricular schedule we found that we are not using
the apartment as much as we thought we would.
Q: What will you miss the most about the neighborhood/neighbors?
A: The building has such great folks living here. I will miss the camaraderie we have with our neighbors in the building.
Everyone is friendly, and there are folks in all dierent points in their lives living here... some have kids, are single, retired,
or empty nesters, and we all just get along. In addition, the doormen are so personable and kind. My son still gives Tony,
the doorman, a big hug when he sees him and we have not lived there full-time for some years now. The neighborhood is
just so easy and functional to navigate, and everything is at your fingertips. One of my most favorite places is Matter of
Health (organic grocery store)– which I miss having all that health food so accessible to me as needed.
Q: What makes your property so special?
A: This is a newly renovated apartment with a well thought out design and it has a pretty neutral canvas to make the
apartment your own. It is ready to move in and the advantage of this building is that you can control your heat, which is
not like many other apartments in the city with the traditional heating system where the apartments are so warm. The
building is quiet, and you don't hear much from outside or inside. We say our suburban neighborhood is noisier. Having a
full-service doorman building is also a great feature as well and they have a systemic notification of your packages and key
FOBs to get into the apartment.
