BUILDER’S STORY
LIFE AND INSPIRATION AT LAUREL BEACH
I’ve called Laurel Beach home my entire life. It’s more than a neighborhood, it's a way of
living that has shaped who I am. As a kid, I spent summers racing down the boardwalk,
swimming until sunset, and joining in beach games with the friends who are still my
neighbors today. The sound of the waves, the laughter drifting from the Casino during
evening events, and the easy rhythm of life here are part of what makes this place unlike
anywhere else.
When I decided to build this home at 212 Milford Point Road, my goal was simple: to
capture everything I love about Laurel Beach in a home that feels timeless, comfortable, and
connected to its surroundings. I wanted it to reflect the sense of community that defines this
place, the neighbors who look out for each other, the families who return generation after
generation, and the long summer days that flow seamlessly into nights filled with music and
conversation.
Laurel Beach has always had a special kind of magic. The private quarter-mile of sandy
shoreline is a daily retreat, whether you’re walking at sunrise, taking a dip on a warm
afternoon, or gathering with friends for live music on the sand. The newly rebuilt tennis and
pickleball courts, the historic clubhouse with its duckpin bowling alley, and the full calendar
of events, from kids’ lessons and beach games to themed dinners and concerts, bring the
community together in a way that feels both nostalgic and fresh.
Beyond the beach, the area is surrounded by natural beauty. The Wheeler salt marsh, the
Audubon bird sanctuary, and the open green spaces maintained by the Association provide
peaceful views and endless opportunities to explore. Just a short walk away, Walnut Beach
offers local restaurants, a coffeehouse, and an art gallery that make the neighborhood feel
like a hidden coastal village. A few minutes farther, downtown Milford has become one of
Connecticut’s most vibrant small cities, filled with shops, marinas, and a lively arts and
dining scene.
This home was designed to fit seamlessly into that world, to feel connected to nature, to the
community, and to the timeless architecture of classic beach houses. Every detail, from the
shiplap walls and red oak floors to the coffered ceilings and nautical touches, was chosen to
reflect the character of the coast. I wanted it to be a home that feels elegant but relaxed,
open and filled with light, with enough space for family and friends to gather, and the
flexibility for it to grow with the people who live here.
Building here, in the place I’ve always loved, is both personal and meaningful. My hope is
that whoever makes this home their own will feel what I’ve always felt that Laurel Beach
isn’t just a beautiful place to live, it’s a place to belong.
