AN INTERVIEW WITH STEVE AND KITTY BLACK
PROUD HOMEOWNERS OF 105 HALF MILE LANE

WHAT MADE YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH THIS HOME?

We were looking for something special but we weren’t sure what that special was. The
minute we turned in the street and saw the house and surroundings, we said, this is it. We
hadn’t even seen the inside. The interior sealed the deal.

PLEASE DESCRIBE THE RENOVATION PROCESS ...
We’ve made a lot of improvements to the home, over the years. We expanded the back of the
house allowing for a larger kitchen, powder room and laundry room. We added the granite patio
with built-in grill, refinished the basement with an English Pub theme. Luckily, we were friends with
Joe Grosso, a highly skilled, highly respected builder in the area. He did all of the work, on each
                    renovation.

DID YOU EVER CONSIDER A POOL?

Although we have the perfect spot for a pool, we never considered one. We belonged to a local
club where we would swim, play tennis and golf so didn’t see the need. We did, however, put in a
                      “Sundance Spa” that use frequently.

                       WHY ARE YOU MOVING?

Steve is going to retire so will no longer commute to the city. We want to be closer to our
                        daughter and grandchildren in Glastonbury.

                        WILL YOU MISS THE NEIGHBORS?

Oh my, YES! This neighborhood is renowned for it’s family atmosphere. The bus stop is busy
with children. We have a neighborhood Christmas Party each year. It’s a wonderful time to
celebrate the holidays and get caught up. We also have a directory of the neighborhood so it is
easy to get in touch with one another, if needed.

TELL ME ABOUT THE GROUNDS ...
The woods behind the house is a sanctuary for many beautiful birds and wildlife. It changes
so beautifully with the seasons. It’s silly but our daughters gave different names to the different
areas of the yard. We have “Amen Corner”, “Fern Valley”, and Africa. (A rock shaped just like Africa).
We will all miss this beautiful property.

WHAT MAKES YOUR LOT SO SPECIAL?

The topography is unique and interesting. We have small hills for sledding as well as plenty of flat area
for playing catch. We also have great rocks. The woods behind the house gives us great privacy and also a
         natural playground for the kids.
