Top 10 Things you will love about 131 Toilsome Hill Road
1. Sitting by the fire in the library during winter. The only soundtrack is the crackle of burning logs.
Then the kids go straight out onto the covered deck with hot chocolate and curl up under a
blanket and watch the snow fall. It’s simple but so magical.
2. Lazy Summer days that start with grabbing coffee and croissants at Whole Foods and going to
one of three local beaches to maybe do some fishing and then home to BBQ lunch and then
relax on the deck if it’s hot or garden and then firefly spotting or an outdoor movie and camping
out as the sun sets.
3. We’re lucking enough to have the perfect gentle slope to our garden that makes for ideal
sledding in winter and slip ‘n slide in the summer.
4. The flexible layout that allows for adults to relax in the living room then take the two doors that
lead straight onto the deck, to have a cocktail or storm watch.
5. Sitting on the second deck that leads out from the sliding doors and drinking coffee early in the
morning before the day starts. Just you and the birds. Although deer, foxes and turkeys are all
frequent and enchanting visitors.
6. Between zoom meetings, sitting on the bench by the pond and watching the fish is really
calming. Our kids have really been fascinated by the abundant nature that the pond has
welcomed: dragonflies, toads, newts, and a duck have all graced it with their presence.
7. Gardening has been such a large part of our time here. We built raised beds and grew all sorts of
vegetables and harvesting them became a family affair.
8. The basement studio has become a family favorite. Light, bright and drenched in warm
afternoon sunshine, it’s actually too welcoming to the kids – especially when we light the log
fire!
9. Our kitchen was the first room we updated, and it set the tone for the contemporary, classical
and welcoming feel we have worked hard to create throughout the house. The sliding doors look
out onto the lawn, pond and privacy trees while the kitchen windows look out onto the street,
which is invaluable for the school bus drop off. We’ve had so many wonderful times with family
and friends here.
10. The compliments on our house! We have a lot of friends from the city come and stay and it’s like
a weekend break for them, which we love.
