TOP 10 THINGS WE'LL MISS ABOUT LIFE AT BARLOW ROAD

1. Sitting at the kitchen table during a snowstorm–hot cocoa in hand–and
watching the big lawn turn into a white crystal masterpiece.

2. The squeals and laughter of kids in the pool.

3. Cold winter nights snuggled in bed with the fireplace lighting the room in soft
shadow.

4. The annual family reunion, with everyone out on the patio and the lawn, in the
pool, kids climbing the huge magnolia at the far end of the big lawn, the golf cart
ferrying kids around the grounds. We open the French doors into the living room and
dining room, and it’s a big happy swarm of people all over the place.

5. Sitting on the second floor deck in the very early morning with my first coffee, to
the sound of birdsong and early risers. Dew on the big lawn. The sound of bees.

6. Being able to walk to the train and hop into the city for a day of theater and
dinner.

7. Mild nights on the patio around the fire pit, watching fireflies on the lawn.
Maybe marshmallows on a stick.

8. Hiding from the family in the woods walkway, just sitting on the bench and
watching plants grow.

9. The fountain on a hot day. The sound alone cools me off while I take a break from
gardening.

10. March: 1000 daffodils all in bloom on the hill in the woods in the front of the driveway.
They are mostly early blooming after winter. A sea of yellow and white!
