AN INTERVIEW WITH DINA BERGER
PROUD HOMEOWNER ON BAYBERRY COMMON SINCE 1984

WHAT MADE YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH 6 BAYBERRY COMMON?
If you want a typical New England white house with massive lawn this is not
the house. If you want a unique house with architectural character on a beautiful
property with wooded views from every window, this may be the one for you.
Although close to town, walkable to the Post Road and Christies Country Store, this
place provides privacy and a feeling of being alone with nature. From the moment
you open the door you see the beautiful tall trees which were harvested for sailing
boats in the nineteenth century. The LR provides an exciting Wow with its massive
floor to ceiling stone fireplace and vaulted ceiling. Parties here around the piano
would rock. The deck extends the full breadth of the house, accessible from LR, DR and
kitchen as each room has sliding doors with screens. The family room is on the lower
level and offers a separate area away from the main floor hub. Great for entertaining
                               different age groups.

                                PLEASE DESCRIBE THE RENOVATION PROCESS...
Over the years we replaced all the windows put amazing see through floor windows
in the front entrance. We remodeled the kitchen and baths using stone and granite.
The laundry was relocated to the BR floor to make life a lot easier.

DID YOU EVER CONSIDER PUTTING IN A POOL?

No. We loved the sociability of going to the town's facilities and going to the
beach and pool on the same trip. We lived with a pool before and did not want
the maintenance, and did not looking at a dark space in the colder months, of
which we have many in CT.

                                       WHY ARE YOU MOVING?

We have been in this house for 34 happy years and with children and even
grandchildren grown, we felt it was time to downsize.

                                       WILL YOU MISS THE NEIGHBORS?
The street is a small and quiet cul-de-sac and a safe place for riding bicycles or
playing outside. We used to have a basketball hoop on the street and all the
                                     neighbors would play.

PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT THE GROUNDS ...
The woods are viewable from every window of the house. We love seeing wildlife,
herds of deer, wild turkeys, the occasional fox. We created a walk through our woods
which I love taking with my grandchildren. We've planted lots of native plants and it is
a joy watching them peek up their heads throughout the seasons. There are adequate flat
areas for games and lots of woods to explore.
