They say a man's home is his castle....never more true if you
lived at 1428 Monroe Turnpike. Locally known as "The Castle",
this Landmark is an iconic structure in this quintessential CT

town. Custom built in 1936 by a NY financier, Freemasons
painstakingly constructed this fortress, and left their mark
with Masonic symbols inlaid throughout the stonework. It

has hosted many lavish parties and events when a NYC Opera
SInger named Lisa Roma lived here in the 1940's. She would
host Hollywood Actors and NY aristocrats alike for these
galas. It was then part of the Sisters of Nazareth estate and
used as their private chapel and office headquarters. When it

became too much for them to maintain, a local builder and
his family decided to save it from demolition and purchased,
then restored it back to life, blending its unique details and

characteristics with a modern and highly
efficient infrastructure.
