Interview with the Homeowner
Q: What are your favorite custom details of the house?
A: We designed this home with every detail inside and out thought out to the nth degree.
The front portico design was based on the TV show This Old House. We contacted them
and they provided pictures and detailed information so that the carpenter could duplicate
the portico. We raised the foyer height an additional foot to accommodate the extra depth
portico and custom palladium window to add to the grandeur of the foyer. The front door
with the surrounding leaded glass windows was ordered from a company in Boston and is
historically accurate. Lastly, we laser cut the marble in the foyer to reflect the detail in the
foyer window.
A close second favorite is the deck. The exterior pergola & deck was designed on a concept
we saw in Naples, FL. The retractable awning on a pergola was a very unique feature and
something which was an engineering challenge.
Q: Why are you moving?
A: Our children were raised in this house but are now living on their own in NYC. It is a
wonderful home and it is time for another young family to create new memories in this
special place.
Q: What made you fall in love with the area?
A: We were the first people to walk on the street when it was just mud ; the trees weren't even
cleared. It was a new cul-de-sac street being developed with large homes in a private
setting located close to town. We absolutely loved the area, we were close to town but
still had plenty of yard and privacy. Fairfield is a family centered town, the schools are
tremendous, the beaches are pristine and the sunsets at Sasso Beach are breathtaking.
Q: Did you ever consider putting a pool in? If not, why?
A: We never considered putting a pool in. We spent a great deal of time at the beaches. We
also belong to a country club with a pool that has great programs for children.
