AN INTERVIEW WITH VINCENT AITORO
PROUD HOMEOWNER ON SURF ROAD SINCE 1975
WHAT MADE YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH 6 SURF ROAD?
I fell in love the moment I walked onto the property. It is such a magical setting.
The views were like something out of magazine, and I loved the fact that we
would be able to have a deep water dock. The land was above our price point, and
custom building a house was a big project, but I knew that there was no other place
I would rather live and raise my family.
WHY ARE YOU MOVING?
My kids are all grown up and while I do enjoy hosting my grand-kids and watching
them play outside on the perfect waterfront setting, it is time for a change. I need
something more manageable and smaller now that my husband has passed.
I cherish the memories we created as a family here and will miss living here
tremendously.
WILL YOU MISS THE NEIGHBORS?
Absolutely, all my neighbors are kind, courteous and friendly. We made
special and long lasting relationships with many, and will miss them after I
leave. There is nothing like having friends closeby whenever you might need
a helping hand, or someone to enjoy a glass of wine with while watching the
sunset.
DID YOU EVER HAVE ANY WATER IN THE HOUSE?
No, we never had any water in the house whatsoever. The water would come
up on the shore, but never close to the house. We are in the most protected
part on the lagoon side. I would often stay in the house, even during the worst
of storms, because I always felt safe.
WHAT MAKES YOUR LOT SO SPECIAL?
The views of both the sound and the lagoon. Being on the lagoon side of surf gave
us more protection from water, an allowed us to have a deep water dock, which
was so important to us as boat lovers. The neighborhood is so private and serene. I do
believe we have the best spot in Saugatuck Shores.
