Interview with the Homeowner
Q: Why are you moving?
A: We are moving because we have always wanted to custom build and live in a mid-century
style ranch.
Q: Tell us about your renovations.
A: We wanted more open space, so we enclosed the original outdoor patio.
To enhance natural light and bring the outside in, we installed floor to ceiling windows, sliding
glass doors and skylights. In keeping with the open floor plan, we took down the original living
room wall. We then added another outdoor patio to enjoy barbeques and entertaining outside.
For a more welcoming entrance to our home, we enlarged the front porch. We enjoy sitting out
front with a glass of wine looking out at the parklike setting and the sunset.
Q: What made you choose this home over others?
A: As soon as we walked through the front door we were taken with the light and brightness
throughout the entire house. We saw Modern Farmhouse features at its best. The kitchen has an
oversized island, Subzero refrigerator, Wolf stove and Miele appliances. The views from all the
windows overlook over two beautiful private grounds.
Q: Do you like the location?
A: We enjoy being in a suburban setting and having the convenience to downtown Fairfield with
all the restaurants shopping and all the services it offers. The location is also very accessible to
Westport, Norwalk and Wilton.
Q: Did you ever look into putting in a pool?
A: Yes, but since we decided to move, we put this project on hold. We know a great and
reasonably priced pool company that quoted us an 18x36 high-end, heated pool for about 75k.
A 20x40 would be about 9k more. It would take 3 months to get a permit and 1 month to install.
Q: Tell us about the neighborhood.
A: We are nestled on a private piece of property and we are fortunate to have two awesome
neighbors along side us. We are close to the vibrant and cultural community of downtown
Fairfield. It is convenient to several lovely beaches and to the railroad for trips to Manhattan. We
have the Fairfield Theatre Company and the SHU Community Theatre, as well outdoor venues
for music and entertainment. There are several golf courses, parks and the Audubon Society
nearby. Close to schools.
