WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT OUR HOUSE
For our family, where we live is not just a house, it is a home and a community. When we moved,
we had primarily focused on the town of Fairfield. However, we were very lucky to have a wonderful realtor
who exposed us to a few different areas and we were fortunate enough to find this house available in this
particular neighborhood in Trumbull. The Parker’s Dairy neighborhood is a very coveted area for many
reasons. We are extremely sad to leave due to a job relocation. We envisioned staying in this home and
neighborhood long-term. We have tried to find a replication of this neighborhood where we are moving to,
but its simply irreplaceable.
Our neighborhood is truly unique. It is a throwback to the 1950s, where neighbors were friends
and looked out for one another. Kids play in the streets and pop in out of each other’s homes without any
cause for concern or safety issues. Our neighborhood has annual block parties, holiday parties, kids making
lemonade stands and just friendly neighbors taking morning walks or jogs together. We take strolls over to
the horse farm in our neighborhood on Old Dairy Rd. and the kids like to see and pet the horses. Older kids
in the neighborhood simply walk down the street and take horseback riding lessons. Families and kids take a
short walk to the farmer’s market down the street and can bring a blanket and enjoy a picnic followed by kids
playing on the playground.
The kids love the brick-oven pizza truck and ice cream while we truly enjoy the fresh vegetables and
homemade mozzarella and pesto. The NIA (Nichols improvement Association – where the farmer’s market
and playground are) also hosts a variety of events and fun evenings throughout the year. They host Easter-
egg hunts, paint and sip nights, yoga classes, super-bowl parties and Christmas parties – just to name a few.
It’s a short walk and a great way to meet other people in the community. Upon moving to the neighborhood
in 2012, we were greeted by many knocks on our door with cards and baked goods welcoming us to the
community. You will also receive a list of all the neighbor’s names and emails and phone numbers so you can
easily get acquainted- or even if you just need a referral for a plumber or electrician. Neighbors form instant
friendships and are always willing to help out someone new to the area.
When we moved to the neighborhood we were pregnant with twins. Without asking, neighbors
shoveled our driveway and wheeled our large garbage cans down to the end of our driveway simply to help
out while we were still getting unpacked and settled in. Meal trains were arranged to provide us with food
during the birth of our twins or passing of family members. Most of the children in this neighborhood attend
the award winning public schools. We love the schools here and will be sad to leave them.
The location of this neighborhood is also unique. Many of our neighbors commute to New York City
on a daily basis. We are less than ten minutes from 2 train stations. We are within 1 mile of two highways
(Route 8 which connects to I-95, and Route 15). We are less than ten minutes away from 3 major grocery
stores. Just a mile and a half up the street you will find Big Y (grocery), Target, CVS, Kohl’s, and various other
shopping which makes it super easy to pick up anything you might need on your way home from work. The
convenience can’t be beat. In addition, we are 10-15 minutes from many beaches, which we frequent on the
weekends.
Trumbull is also known for it’s many parks, which include playgrounds, sprinkler parks and pools.
Only Trumbull residents can attend these facilities, which keeps them clean and private and not over-
crowded. We love Beaches Park, which has a playground area, sprinkler area, and a huge swimming pool
along with concessions for the kids. We also go to Twin Brooks Park, a short drive away and has a beautiful
playground, hiking trails, and a small lake area where our kids love to walk in the sand and feed the ducks.
Our house checked all the boxes for us when we moved in. The house is spacious and we have hosted
numerous family get togethers, hosting as many as 20 people sleeping comfortably under one roof. We have
spent countless weekends swimming in what seems to be an oasis, grilling, and having brunch on the deck.
We have worked hard to maintain this house, adding all new mechanicals including a new high
efficiency AC and furnace, and hot water tank. We added a full bathroom in the rec room and a bonus room
to be used as guest space, an office, or a quiet retreat. We have updated the paint, fixtures and hardware in
nearly every room to add to the peaceful and tranquil feel we love about our home.
While we are sad to leave, we hope the new owners of this home will truly enjoy living here. Just as we
experienced when first moving here, we are sure you will be welcomed with open arms to our neighborhood.
