Separately, Padjajaran University’s MWA chairman Rudiantara said he had not heard about the civil lawsuit.
“I don’t know what the lawsuit is about so I can’t give any comments,” Rudiantara said after attending an MWA plenary meeting in Bandung on Friday.
He said he had personally announced the MWA’s decision regarding the board’s appointment of an acting rector, instead of a definite rector for the 2019-2023 period, to the three rector nominees. “I have called them and sent them a decision letter. In this case, I couldn’t just send them a letter, I had to personally call them. It’s a matter of courtesy because I know them personally,” Rudiantara said.
He added that the MWA had agreed in its latest plenary meeting to revise its regulation on rector appointment. The board has set the deadline to be within the next two months to create a new regulation, he said. “What is important is that we will ask the senate of academics and active professors to be more involved in the rector appointment process. The soul of a university lies in its senate and professors,” Rudiantara said. He expressed hope that the MWA could decide on a new rector before October this year, the end of Rina’s term as the acting rector.
