            Advantages of Reading

As an intellectual object, a publication is prototypically a composition of these great length that it
requires a considerable investment of time to compose and a still significant, though not so
comprehensive, investment of time to browse. This sense of book has a restricted and an
unrestricted sense. In the limited sense, a publication is a self explanatory section or part of a
longer composition, a usage that reflects the simple fact that, in antiquity, long works needed to be
written on several scrolls, and every scroll had to be identified by the book it included. Therefore,
for example, each part of Aristotles Physics is called a book. From the unrestricted sense, a
publication is your compositional whole of that these segments, whether called chapters or books
            or parts, are parts.

The intellectual content in a physical publication does not need to be a composition, nor even be
called a novel. Books can consist just of drawings, engravings, or photographs, or such things as
crossword puzzles or cut-out dolls. In a physical book, the pages may be left blank or may feature
an abstract set of outlines as service for continuing entrances, e.g., an account book, an
appointment book, an autograph book, a notebook, a journal, or a sketchbook. Some bodily books
are created with pages thick and sturdy enough to encourage other physical items, like a
scrapbook or picture album. Books may be distributed in electronic form as e-books along with
            other formats.

Although in normal academic parlance that a monograph is understood to be a professional
academic work, rather than a reference work on a single scholarly subject, in library and
information science monograph describes more broadly every non-serial book complete in one
volume (publication ) or a finite number of volumes (a novel like Prousts seven-volume In Search
of Lost Time), in contrast to serial publications like a magazine, journal, or newspaper. A store
where books are purchased and sold is a bookshop or bookstore. Novels can also be sold
elsewhere. Books may also be borrowed from libraries. Google has estimated that as of 2010,
roughly 130,000,000 different titles were published. In some wealthier nations, the selling of printed
books has decreased because of the increased use of e-books.

In the 2000s, as a result of growth in availability of cheap handheld computing devices, the chance
to share texts through electronic means became an attractive option for media publishers. The
expression e-book is a contraction of"digital book"; it refers to some book-length publication in
digital form. An e-book is usually made available through the internet, but also on CD-ROM and
other forms. E-Books may be read either using a computing device with an LED display like a
traditional computer, a smartphone or a tablet computer; or by way of a portable e-ink display
device known as an e-book reader, like the Sony Reader, Barnes & Noble Nook, Kobo eReader, or
the Amazon Kindle. E-book readers attempt to mimic the experience of reading a print publication
by using this technology, because the displays on e-book readers are not as reflective.
