A WORD FROM THE EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Colorado DeMolay and Advisors,

Well, another quick year has passed; it is amazing how fast they seem to go by. I was looking through photos with Mom
Sellars for the yearbook and it is bitter sweet to see how you young men and ladies have grown up. Every year, the State
Installs a new State Master Councilor, and just like in your home Chapter the dynamics of the State Chapter will change.
With new and different personalities come new ideas and a whole new feel within the Chapter. We should all embrace
this change, it is what keeps DeMolay constantly evolving and keeps our organization from becoming stagnant.

As always, Masonic relations remain very important, we have done a great job building and strengthening these bonds.
We are privileged to be able to attend and take part in the Annual communication of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of
Colorado every year. This year we unveiled a new DeMolay display, it was very well received by all. Forrest Johnson
and Sean Putman both turned in their petitions for the degrees of Masonry. The entire State Line attended the All
Masonic banquet and represented Colorado DeMolay with grace and dignity. Our state-wide Masonic relations should
remind us that we always need to have a presence and should always be working closely with the sponsoring bodies. El
Jebel Shrine asked DeMolay to participate in the Circus again this year. Colorado DeMolay had a tremendous amount of
visibility from the Ring Master sponsorship to their booth and display. The young men along with their State Sweetheart,
worked the inflatables and helped sell programs. Forrest Johnson addressed the crowd and spoke with pride about your
organization.

We have reinstituted two of our older Chapters this year; Columbine Chapter in Grand Junction, and Poudre Valley
Chapter in Fort Collins. Columbine Chapter is planning their first prospect event and it should be taking place in the very
near future. Poudre Valley just held their prospect event at the Fort Fun center in Fort Collins and it went great! They
received two petitions and possibly two new Advisors out of this event.

Colorado DeMolay also hosted our annual Relay for Life event at Bell Middle School. This is always a very important
event. Not only are we giving back, but we are helping a very worthy cause while getting the DeMolay name in the public.
We had over 700 students in attendance and raised over three thousand dollars. We received 10 petitions and the school
has asked us to come back again next year. Mason Sellars is the liaison in our State for Relay for Life. He started the
Relay for Life event at Bell Middle School over four years ago and it has grown each year. He has definitely done a
wonderful job setting this up year after year and through his work, he has built quite the relationship with the School, the
Mayor, and other city officials of his town.

We have had our sixth year of growth for Colorado DeMolay and while this is an accomplishment most organizations
can’t boast about, we still have a lot of work to do. We need to start showing growth on a larger level and work on reten-
tion throughout the jurisdiction. As we keep working on membership, we will need to remember that retention will fall back
on our programming and what we should also be doing to keep the interest of our members. I believe that if we all
remember to have fun while working toward our goals, this upcoming year can be another successful year for Colorado
DeMolay.

Thank you all for doing such a wonderful job and please keep up the great work.

Fraternally,

Dad Jon Sellars
