Buddy vs. the Drive by Shootings!
By Steven Turner Walker Mortuary
I thought this title would grab some attention!! It’s true...well, it would be more accurate to say “drive by bomb- ing”. The new Buddy Feeder has certainly managed to attract lots of attention. There is nothing like it anywhere in the Freeport area as far as I know. This hand crafted totem pole of a feeder is unique! Those drive by “bombings” or “shootings” are from none other than our fine feathered friends in the sky.
It must seem very unusual to these flying creatures when they peer down to see a structure of unusual proportion with round, transparent holders filled with nuts. I’m sure they would like to get their beaks inside and grab some. The design makes it impossible for birds though, but I’m not going to hold my breath, I’ve been proven wrong before.
The birds seem to know they cannot share in the nutty feast, so my theory is they have rallied together to form an aerial attack on Buddy’s feeder. The reason is either they are trying to ruin the natural look of the carving or maybe the social behavior of birds is to “decorate” it. Who knows, they may even think it is a statue and we know what birds do to statues.
None of this activity from above seems to bother Buddy in the least. He goes about his usual daily routine of eating nuts, watching the goings on at our building and of course, eating nuts! Oh, did I mention he likes to eat nuts? As for the rest of us, we are in a “holding pattern” thinking about invitations, consulting Farmer’s Almanac for the weather and cleaning up the aerial bombings. Yes, life at Walker’s is always an adven- ture! From Buddy and his servants, have a wonderful summer and watch for more information on the big event coming up soon! You do not want to miss this!
Thanks for listening! Steve
