COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund
In March 2020, the Beckley Area Foundation established the COVID-19 Emergency
Response Fund (CERF), which was created to support local nonprofit
organizations working to provide aid to those impacted by the coronavirus outbreak.
CERF supports emergency needs identified by our nonprofit partners in human services,
health, housing and education, and will make grants to nonprofits providing aid to
impacted individuals and families in Raleigh, McDowell, Webster and Wyoming counties.
BAF distributed twenty-one grants through July 2020 totaling $62,620.84. Funds to the
nonprofits listed below were used to help feed our seniors, unemployed and children:
Beckley Dream Center Helping Hands
Bread of Life McDowell County Commission on Aging
Catholic Charities of WV, Webster Springs One Voice WV
City of Beckley, Parks and Recreation Dept. Quota Club of Beckley
City of Gary, Police Dept. Raleigh County Commission on Aging
Crab Orchard Baptist Church Raleigh County Community Action Association
Five Loaves and Two Fishes Food Bank Salvation Army
Food for Body and Soul The Carpenter’s Corner
God’s Grace Ministry The Itmann Food Bank
Women’s Resource Center
CERF is designed to complement the work of local public health, nonprofit and government
entities, and to expand local capacity to support individuals and families experiencing
hardship because of the outbreak and related closures and disruptions.
100% of donations will be used to support our communities. BAF is waiving the
administrative fees that would normally be associated with CERF. Banking fees, including
credit card transactions for contributions to CERF, will apply.
