New Funds
Individuals, families, organizations and businesses begin new legacies each year
when establishing a fund at the Beckley Area Foundation. BAF has grown to over 480
separate endowments.
Beckley Concert Association Fund—Est. 2019
This designated agency fund was created by the Beckley Concert Association to provide ongoing support
for their organization. BCA's mission is to provide music—which is considered an integral part of life—
through live professional concerts to their community.
COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund—Est. 2020
In March 2020, the Beckley Area Foundation established the COVID-19 Emergence Response Fund (CERF),
which was created to support local nonprofit organizations working to provide aid to those impacted by
the coronavirus outbreak. (learn more about CERF on pg. 55)
Cowen Area Community Fund—Est. 2019
This fund was established by the Town of Cowen Common Council to provide grants—no less frequently
than biennially and no more frequently than annually—for community works and improvements, or their
maintenance and sustainability. All applications will be reviewed and selected by the Common Council.
Jan and Margaret Datsko Scholarship Fund—Est. 2019
Jan Datsko was the winner of the 2017 Greenbrier Classic Tournament volunteer drawing, which allowed
him to select a charity of his choice to receive $10,000. Mr. Datsko and his wife, Margaret, established this
scholarship fund with his gift to BAF. This renewable scholarship will be used to assist Raleigh County
residents attending accredited trade, vocational or technical schools.
Margaret Thorne-Dilley Scholarship for Science Teachers Fund—Est. 2020
Margaret Dilley passed away on January 5, 2020. This scholarship is to assist matriculating students in
Raleigh County, WV, who are interested in furthering their post-secondary education to become a teacher.
