Melissa Independent School District

“Melissa ISD will empower ALL students to reach their utmost potential to achieve
excellence and life-long success.”

Melissa Independent School District, or Melissa Schools, consists of two
elementary/intermediate schools, one middle school, and one high school. The
district will open a new Melissa High School facility and additional elementary
schools over the course of the next few years.

Overall, test scores at Melissa Schools are at over 90% passing and commended.
ACT and SAT scores for Melissa students are traditionally above state and national
averages.

The district’s Career and Technical Education program features over 30 courses,
including engineering, that are open to high school students. In many of these
courses students have the opportunity to earn technical certifications.

The Melissa Schools fine arts program includes art, choir, band, and theater.
Students in fine arts participate in the district’s annual “Expresso Yourself”
showcase, in addition to academic competitions and other performances throughout
the year. The Mighty Cardinal Band continues to earn accolades with each passing
year at both the high school and middle school levels.

The district’s athletic program includes 12 sports for student athletes in high school,
and six sports in middle school.

Melissa Schools receives tremendous support from the community, as well as parent
groups such as the PTO/PTSO and the Melissa Booster Club.
