LEAD LENGTH
The swivel lead of a caster is the offset distance
between the vertical centerline of the caster’s
raceway and the center of the axle hole on the leg.
Extending the swivel lead is common for many
industrial applications including tugger carts.
Ergonomic
Extended leads move the
wheel farther from the raceway
resulting in less force needed to
swivel the caster and provides
ergonomic improvement.
Eliminate Caster Flutter
High speed industrial applications
often cause caster flutter.
Flutter or excessive vibration
occurs when casters of a specific
lead reach a certain speed which
resonates with the construction of
the caster.
Using an extended lead on
higher speed applications will
greatly reduce caster flutter.
