The Maule Valley, home to Vina Casa Vergara, is Chile’s
largest wine growing region and is also one of country’s
oldest and most diverse valleys. Being so large, the region
ofers distinctive microclimates for both red and white
wines, but it is best known for its powerful Cabernet
Sauvignon and aromatic and spicy Carmenere wines.
As Chile is considered to be the “savior” of the Carmenere
varietal, its’ wine makers are well-practiced at producing
excellent quality wines with this long thought to be
‘extinct’ varietal.
Cabernet Sauvignon wine was frst produced in Chile from
vines planted in the 19th century, but is now the country’s
predominant varietal.
In fact, Chile grows more Cabernet than Bordeaux or the
Napa Valley.
