NEWS  ACTIVE RETIREMENT IRELAND

Josie Quinlan Waterford there were so many people looking to get
involved in the central group that I set up five or six
different groups in the area. It is important for local
ARAs to stay in touch with other in the region. With the
support of the Regional Development Officer, can meet
up together through a system of ‘clustering’
sharing ideas and holding joint events. .The RDO can
offer advice and suggestions to groups who want to
grow and develop. We also can help out if any conflicts
arise within a group. We are here to help!
“In my role I can see the importance of having this central
support. If there are areas I know need an ARA I will
advertise, hire a room and get some people together and we
will talk about setting up a new group.”

Active Retirement is for people of all ages, from early DAY TO DAY
fifties up with no limits. The beauty of our organisation In each ARA a register is kept of all members and also

We all need something to look forward to and a focus to
keep us motivated. Everyone can find their role within
the ARA doing something that suits them and they enjoy
with varying levels of responsibility.

SETTING UP A NEW GROUP
How big a group gets can depend on the size of the
room or the hall in the area they are in. Sometimes it
happens that there are people waiting to get involved in
the organisation but there’s not enough room. In
