MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN A CHILD’S LIFE…
LEAVE A LEGACY

Make-A-Wish® Foundation has a vision – to ensure that every child living with a life-threatening medical condition receives
their one true wish. You could make a difference by simply thinking of Make-A-Wish when making or amending your will and

thus leave a lasting memory.
Every day, we work with children who are battling life-threatening medical conditions such as Cystic Fibrosis, Leukaemia,
Muscular Dystrophy, heart conditions and many more. A wish granted is true magic for the child, providing respite from their
normal routines of hospitals, doctors and treatment. Make-A-Wish was established in Ireland in 1992, and since then has
granted wishes for more than 1,700 brave children, allowing them to experience the hope, strength and joy that each wish
provides. Currently over 200 children are waiting to have their wish granted – however the charity receives no government

funding and relies completely on the support of people like you.

WHY DO I NEED A WILL?

Making a will is extremely important, even if you don’t plan to leave a gift. That’s because a Will is the only way for you to say
how your money and personal belongings should be used after your death. Fortunately, it couldn’t be more straightforward. If
you already have a solicitor, your first step is as simple as a phone call. If not, you’ll need to find a solicitor who will draw up a

Will for you. This should be easy, as it’s one of the basic services almost all solicitors provide.

LEAVING A GIFT TO CHARITY

By leaving a gift to Make-A-Wish in your Will, large or small, you can make a positive difference to the lives of brave children
across Ireland. When it comes to your will, it’s only right that your family and friends come first. But you can also leave a gift to

a cause close to your heart.
The culture of leaving a gift in your will to a favourite charity is in its infancy in Ireland. Only 34% of people in Ireland have
made a will & many people just don’t realise that they can give money to charities in this way. However, the reality is that after
looking after friends and family, a small share, even 1%, of whatever is left can make a long lasting difference to charities and

the invaluable work they do.
