Legendary French designer, fashion designer and innovator Pierre Cardin. As a graduated architect
he started his career of fashion designer after the Second World War under the guidance of a
renowned master in the field, Mr Christian Dior.

In 1950 he sets up his own fashion saloon and in 1953 he becomes a member of the presitigious
French association Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture. In 1959 he starts a revolution in the
field by creating a first collection in history directly produced for the sale and wearing “pret-a porter”.
In this way he brings high fashion to the general public.

Besides textiles and accessories Pierre Cardin designs furniture, interiors, objects of applied arts &
has also worked for automobile and aircraft industry and in other areas.

Since 1991 Pierre Cardin has held the position of honorary ambassador of UNESCO and since 2009
he has been a good will envoy of the FAO of the United Nations.

Pierre Cardin has received a number of awards and decorations of high degree from institutions all
over the world. Since 1977 he has several times been given De d’ Or” (golden thimble), the largest
honor of French haute culture. Pierre Cardin was the first fashion designer in history to win, in 1992,
a chair in the French Academy of Fine Arts ( Academie des Beaux-Arts ).
