My first name is Ovidio. .

For the Italian administration however, my civilian name is
MONACO Dovidio Felicenicola.
Here's another beautiful story about the small villages of
Italy and their dialects.
When I was born on 3 November 1951, in my village of 400
people, everyone knew everyone else.
Except from a few dignitaries, the lingua franca was the local
dialect, which was very different from Italian.
When my father went to officially register my birth with the
Commune of San Giovanni Lipioni, the official addressed
him - naturally - in dialect, asking him:
"So, what are you going to call your son?"
My father replied - just as naturally - in the dialect "Ovidio",
which he pronounced [Douweoude].
The attendant wrote : Dovidio.
4 From the latin poet Ovide - in latin Ovidius, born in 43 BC in Sulmona in
Abruzzo 40 km from San Giovanni Lipioni – died in 17 AD (Metamorphoses
– The Art of Love…).
