Joshua’s Conflict
On March 18, 2016, two fifth graders were involved in an argument during writing class. First,
Joshua told his classmate Naomi that another classmate Susan wanted to fight her. Joshua also
kicked Naomi’s leg. Naomi became angry and told their teacher, Ms. Jones, what Joshua said to
her. Naomi also told Ms. Jones that Joshua kicked her.

After Naomi told Ms. Jones about Joshua’s disrespectful behavior, he called Naomi a “snitch” As a

Jones said the rumors could cause Naomi to dislike Susan because Joshua had told Naomi a lie .
Ms. Jones also told Joshua that he should not start conflict. As a result, Joshua became angry
and replied, “I hate this school.” In conclusion, Ms. Jones assigned Joshua two days of detention.
