National level e-symposium on “Agroforestry system for augmenting livestock
productivity and empowering resource poor rural farmers”

             Conclusion

Results of this study showed that Gliricidia sepium with the understorey of Stylosanthes scabra based
silvipastoral system proofed a substantial role in carbon sequestration and using this species for carbon
sequestration is highly efficient for effective utilization of degraded wastelands.
This study confirmed that improved and well managed pasture and silvipastoral systems can contribute
to the recovery of degraded areas.
