What is Artificial intelligence?

Artificial intelligence (AI), sometimes called machine intelligence, is intelligence demonstrated
by machines, in contrast to the natural intelligence displayed by humans and other animals.
Computer science defines AI research as the study of "intelligent agents": any device that perceives
its environment and takes actions that maximize its chance of successfully achieving its goals.

Statistical learning: Statistical learning theory is a framework for machine learning drawing from
the fields of statistics and functional analysis. Statistical learning theory deals with the problem of
finding a predictive function based on data. Statistical learning theory has led to successful
applications in fields such as computer vision, speech recognition, bioinformatics and baseball.
