 Rita Venuti is a Friulana migrant whose lifelong commitment to culture, family, and community shines through her tireless volunteer work for over 30 years. Her work ethic and efficiency are still remembered fondly by those who worked with her during her 33-year career at John Martins. From mentoring younger generations to supporting the elderly, she exemplifies grace, resilience, and quiet strength. Her legacy is one of unwavering service, cultural pride, and selfless contribution.
Vincenzina (Vini) Ciccarello is a trailblazing figure in South Australian public life and a dedicated advocate for the Italian community. She made history as the first woman, and first Italian-born woman, elected Mayor in South Australia, serving the City of Kensington and Norwood from 1991 to 1998. In 1997, she became the first South Australian/Italian woman elected to State Parliament, holding the seat of Norwood for three terms. Post-politics, Vinni has remained active in community service, including roles with Radio 531, the Libraries Board, and the Coordinating Italian Committee. Her enduring commitment has shaped both multiculturalism and civic life in South Australia.
