what we are doing well, and more importantly, what we need to focus on in the future to make this club even greater.
We have taken this feedback on board and are looking at ways to implement some changes in the coming season. More will be communicated on this as we get closer to the start of the new season.
Country Carnivals
Once again the club was invited to participate in the under 14, 15 and 16 country rep carnivals over the summer holidays. These carnivals are played between representative teams from across the state, and we are the only club side invited to take part. It is great recognition of the strength of our club.
In early January Duminda Thenuwara took an U14s team to Tamworth, I took an U15s team to Armidale and Andrew Morris took an U16s team to Taree. For more information on how these carnivals went see the separate reports, but all teams had a great time.
Cricket Academy
For me personally, the greatest new initiative for the club was the introduction of the Cricket Academy. Thanks to a lot of effort and dedication from Daniel Anderson (head coach), the Academy was a roaring success in its first year. Both the u12-u13 and u14-u16 age groups were fully subscribed and the boys had the opportunity for focussed high quality coaching during the 10 week program.
With guest appearances from grade cricketers and highly qualified coaches, the players found it engaging and unanimously ended the program learning a lot. We plan on offering the Academy again next season.
Pink Stumps Day
It has now become a tradition for our Under 9 teams to run a Pink Stumps Day fundraising event each year in March. The event raises money for the McGrath Foundation. This year the event moved venue to Campbell Park. All our Under 9 teams play in a true carnival like atmosphere, enjoyed by players and parents alike.
Thanks to a huge effort from Ratna Siva and his group of Under 9 parent volunteers, they managed to raise $9,000 this year. It seems that every year we find ways to raise even more money for this great cause. Since the 2010/11 season when this started, we have raised over $37,700. A fantastic effort from everyone.
Volunteers
Our club is a large club, and is only successful because of the many volunteers who commit time and effort each season.
We have a fantastic Junior committee who all pitch in to simply get things done.
Julian Bish (Deputy Director) stepped down from the Directors role this season and has been a huge support. Thank you Julian. Julian was Juniors Director for four years and set great foundations for continued success. Julian also put this yearbook together!
Peter Lees (Treasurer) once again managed all our finances and ensures we remain strong.
Steve Burrows (Secretary) organises all our meetings and takes minutes. Steve is also our U11s coordinator and took on the additional role of organising our team photos this season.
Alicia Evans (Registrar) manages all our registrations, which is not a simple task given the size of the club. Alicia also coordinates all our trophies for our presentation day.
Craig Hutchinson manages all of our equipment. He ensures each teams has the kit they need and also coordinated the U13s.
Martin Gilogly is our coaching coordinator and organises all our age group coaching clinics.
