Cricket Blaster Report
2023/24 saw us conduct and concluded our 32nd Cricket Blast season, a huge achievement for everyone involved. There has been many people over this time that have put a huge amount of effort in to make this a success, the fact we continue each season and go from strength to strength is directly related to all the hard work put in by these people.
We finished the season with over 60 boys and girls registered allowing us to have 6 Teams, including our first ever Twilight Tuesday’s season. Since starting in 1992/93 we have now registered over 3000 children, all who have been given exposure and the basics to play cricket for the rest of their lives.
For many of our children and parents this was their first taste of cricket.
It was great to see all games run like clockwork with lots of involvement from parents and supporters. The sessions each week were a lot of fun, and it was great to see the children and family support right until the end.
None of the amazing work that happens to facilitate Cricket Blast would be at all possible without all the volunteers. This year we ended up having 12 Coaches and Managers, a HUGE thank you to each and every one of you for giving up your time to help so many other kids out each and every Saturday, I know the kids all appreciate everything you have done for them.
The children enjoyed the season thoroughly and learnt everything they did because of you guys. It was very clear to see the skill levels from the start of the season to the final weeks had increased greatly. A big thank you to all the parents, your help and assistance made each week run much more smoothly.
There are a few other people I must thank individually for all their help. Our Grounds Manager Roger Friend who was always willing to help out and assist with the coaches. The kids love having you around and hope we see you again next year.
Ruth Watson who helped out in the backend at the start of the season with teams and communication!
This year we also continued the tradition of the trophy for a volunteer of the year. The winner this year was Roger Friend who went above and beyond for the club rocking up every week to support all the coaches throughout the season. Roger was always the first one to make conversation with parents and was always offering his assistance to anyone in need. Thank you so much Roger and can’t wait to have you back next season!
We hope to see all the boys and girls back out there playing cricket again this season. Once again thank you to everyone involved for all their help and support
