Stage 3 – King
The Stage 3 girls played to the spirit West Penno mantra of participation before results.
Everyone contributed and the success of our season was a testament to the commitment of a great bunch of girls. Coming together, half our team was new to Stage 3 but the girls became a team very quickly buoyed by a first round win against our arch enemy. We made it to the semi-final and put in a great effort to almost pull off a win. We were congratulated by the opposition supporters for the quality of our effort and the character of the team after that game.
Throughout the season we laughed, smiled, cheered, won with grace and accepted defeat as part of the game. Liv was our top run scorer closely followed by Maya and Emma.
Emma and Maya both took a stack of wickets. Emma was winner of the Spirit of Cricket award, voted by her teammates. Lil has developed into a very skilful keeper and one stumping late in the season put us into the semi.,
The Loretto Crew of Evs, Weez and Mia were a great addition to the team and stood out with their bowling and fielding skills. Halle has matured into a skilled leader as our captain and displayed some powerful batting. She was a worthy recipient of the Lisa Sthelhakar Award.
Div, Aarapi, Pheebs, Izna, Sharini were all outstanding.
Pheebs did not miss a training session all season and it showed in her keeping and fielding. Izna was a valuable member of the team before a broken finger ended her season early. Div gave her all and bowled very well. Aarapi and Sharini took wickets and were great in the field.
A great season girls. It was an honour to coach you.
You should all be proud of what you achieved as a team and individually.
