tight bowling in the opening overs. Both were well supported by Lukas who collected 13 wickets at an average of 13.8 runs, and Sam and Harry who both collected 10 wickets for the season.
Akith is to be congratulated on receiving the team’s Batting Award, amassing a total of 383 at an average of 47.8 runs. His composure in being able to build an innings, and dashing finish towards the end of the innings, was a highlight. Other commendable batting achievements included Yas, scoring 294 runs at an average of 42 runs and Nic, scoring 254 runs at an average of 31.7 runs. Yas and Nic were our openers in the Finals, their watchful and measured approach laid a solid foundation for the following batters. Lukas’s batting achievement of 204 runs with an average of 40.8 runs was also impressive, reinforcing his claim as one of the best allrounders in the competition.
Congratulations to Sam who took out the award for the most improved. It was not only his improved bowling, with greater control, pace and more consistent line and length that improved, but his maturity and attitude towards the game. In the field he never gave up and was always switched on and encouraging of his teammates, a true team player.
Lastly, the contributions of Ingrid Kohlhagen (Manager) throughout the year have been immense. Her clear and prompt dissemination of information and communication about training and match information kept parents well informed and coaches well prepared. As well, the parents who volunteered to score or do the odd stint of umpiring were invaluable, ensuring that things were always under control and the stress levels of the coaches at a minimum.
It was a phenomenally successful and enjoyable season, providing great rewards to all the players. In particular, those older players whose journey in junior cricket has come to an end – Eamon, Nic, Lukas, Harry, congratulations and well done on what you have achieved and contributed over the years, especially this year.
Finally, well done and thanks to all players, parents and volunteers associated with the team! Coaches
