credit to the core seven/eight players who showed up every week, we landed on the sixth spot in the ladder at the end of the season.
Our thanks to all the fathers who contributed their time to the club and league games but special gratitude to Paul Higham for coaching and Manu Satha for managing the team to a successful season. Paul and Manu’s dedication to the weekly training and then the Saturday pre- and post-game coaching was well appreciated by the boys. Thanks also need to go the Graeme for his coaching support throughout the season.
Alex Higham - was our Team player of the season with his key wickets with the ball and crucial partnership and runs on the board for us. As always, his fielding (not just catches) was exemplary in helping his bowlers containing the runs. Al showed some promise with the bat, and we hope to see him flourish in the u16 season.
Angus Weeden –was a new addition to the team for 2023/24. He started off with a blast with an opening 48 runs on the first game of the season. His spin bowling was a welcome addition to our team. Angus quickly assimilated with the team and played almost every game while contributing with the bat and ball.
Dinesh Manu Ananthan – Dinesh was instrumental, along with the captain, on the teams bowling and fielding setup. He was also one of the motivators on the team/field. He ended the season with better bowling figures and look forward to continuing that in the u16.
Dulneth Jayasekra – Dulneth was one of our key spearheads on the bowling attack. Dulneth’s was able to swing the new ball along with his deadly pace. Dulneth contributed with the bat giving some crucial runs in some of our victories.
Harrish Rengaraja – This was Harrish’s third season and despite missing a few games, Harrish contributed with both ball and bat. His bowling has improved over the last two seasons has become one of our consistent economic bowlers.
Isaac Taylor – Another new addition to the team but fitted in like a glove. Although he was restricted to 4 overs and 30 runs a game due to age restriction (only a few weeks older than the cut off date) but he fully took advantage of the limited exposure. He became our most dependable bowler in terms of economy rate. Isaac was also the best fielder in the team. I truly look forward to Isaac’s contributions next season where he will not be limited by the age dispensation.
Jagbir Singh - Jagbir played his first 3 games of the season and then had to play his rep/grade cricket.
Kairav Kaushal – Kairav was a critical member of our team and was sad to see him get affected by his bad back but was a warrior to play through the pain till it became overbearing for the last few games. We are so proud of his team spirit and appreciate his bowling and batting contributions.
Ishaan Kanji – Ishan was elected as captain and lead by example with both bat and ball and wicket- keeping when needed. Ishaan started off with a bang with the bat and ended up being our Top Batsman for the season. Almost every week, Ishaan was our top scorer. He took on the additional responsibility with fielding and bowling setup as a Captain. We have found a leader in Ishaan.
Ishvar Barani – Unfortunately Ishvar could only make the first couple of games for us before we lost him for the season due to injury.
Naman Bhatt – Naman was our primary wicket keeper and was fantastic with the gloves. Wicket- keeping for the whole game under some extremely hot days is tiring but Naman took the job on without any complaints and managed to score some runs with his batting. He did pick up a few wickets too when he had the break from wicket keeping.
