We would like members know of the very sad passing of one of the “pioneers” in the field of Perfusion-
Mr Jeff Riley RIP 15/10/2021
Jeff, to many of our ANZCP community, was a friend, a mentor and a true legend, who was dedicated to our profession for his entire career. Anyone who came into contact with Jeff, could not but be inspired by his passion and leadership. His gentle way of encouraging and mentoring made him an exceptional educator involved in teaching not just within units he worked in but also in perfusion schools and running simulations.
Jeff’s achievements were vast, and along with his expansive involvement with AmSECT, such as Editor of JECT and President, he was also possibly the most awarded member – being honored with Pioneer in Perfusion (2000), AmSECT Perfusionist of the Year, Gibbon award (2011) and Life member.
He was an award winning writer with well over 100 peer reviewed publications focusing on quality, perfusion education, simulation as well as original research topics and clinical extracorporeal technology.
Jeff was our invited speaker at our ASM at the Gold Coast in 2010 where he gave four presentations over two days.
Many of us have had the honor of working with Jeff - either on various committees, taskforces or simulation, his passion and generosity for our profession will be sadly missed.
Our condolences to his wife Christine, his family, friends and all who knew him.
