“So excited to use a real red cricket ball!” A team full of excitement & enthusiasm for their first year of playing full cricket games. Started our season trainings with simple yes/no/wait games and ended with the boys knowing how to call and slide their bats whilst running between wickets, a pleasure to see each individuals progression & the development within the group. It only took a few sessions for the boys to really gel & get along, on most occasions it was a struggle for our parents to load them back into the car after games/training as they enjoyed each other’s company, continuing to play long after the sessions were finished.
Sammy – from having coached Sammy in the cricket blasters program it was a joy to see his progression into game format. His enthusiasm & quirkiness at training showed in his improvement with both bat & ball in games. He has a bright future in the sport & is longing for his younger brother to join his team, perhaps in a few years time.
Blake – special points for being a lefty like his coach. Watching him stroll in to bowl with beautiful seam positioning reminded me on many occasions of a Mitchel Starc delivery. His thought process and knowledge of the game shows how much he enjoys playing cricket. Man of the match in our first game & also late in the season after copping a nasty ball to the face shows his intent & willingness to play for his team.
Alvin – our resident mathematician, calculating our weekly game totals super-fast. A few great pull shots which went well past the boundary for 4 runs were highlights, and when composed, Alvin has the ability to bowl 6 great balls per over.
Mason – 4 wickets in his last game of the season, shows the mountain of improvement from his first game of the season. Always eager to learn & be out there on the field battling with his teammates. His ability to learn and take on new techniques will see Mason’s game progress rapidly in coming years. His fielding, particularly catching was a highlight – taking a sky high catch in our last training session.
Nathan – our eager beaver. Always willing to put his hand up and try/learn new skills. His carefree, yet intelligent attitude shone throughout the season. Being one of the youngest in the team Nathan showed he can hold his own & contribute with both bat & ball. Having his older brother to play against at home and at training helped his progression.
Sidd – the quiet, cheeky achiever. Both his batting & bowling improved immensely throughout the season. With bat in hand he showed his skills with a few of the biggest shots of the season. He has the competitive drive and shows natural ability to play in a team with his mates.
George – Catch of the season in our last game. His good intent at training really showed in games, in fact was getting some swing when bowling in the second half of the season. When bowling in the right
